Carlsbad Marathon Expo a huge hit!
Our first event in 2008 lets on to a great start.
Talking to runners, giving information, walking around in our socks and providing our product to exhibitors who were simply standing on their feet all day proved to be very beneficial to spreading the word about the benefits of compression garments.
Kenny Souza, World Duathlon Champion and Owner of the San Elijo Hills Running Company, the new Avia concept store: "These socks are awesome! My feet and legs don't hurt anymore, it's great."
Jonathan Toker, Ph.D., former pro triathlete and inventor of Saltstick ran a 1h20:45 in the half marathon and says: "SLS3 compression socks rock. These socks provided unsurpassed muscle support and blister-free comfort. Although not usually wise to try new things on race day, I decided to give the SLS3 compression socks a try today.
Interestingly, they kept my legs and calf muscles warm in the pre-dawn chill. Later in the race, when the temperature heated up, their white colour provided sun-reflecting properties and kept my legs cooler. I ran a steady pace for the first 9 miles with a friend, keeping a check on my heat rate and effort. Recent long-distance and off road training clearly sucked some speed from my legs, but it's nice to feel like you can hold a reasonable pace for a long time. I picked it up in the last 4 miles and was pleased enough with my 1:20:45 finish, good for 56th place on about 6500 runners.
Based on the time of year and my recent training, I enjoyed the race and was satisfied with the negative split despite a slower time than I had anticipated. A 35 mile ride that afternoon clearly told me that I hadn't pushed hard enough! I was pleased with the muscle support and compression the SLS3 socks provided and partially credit the lack of muscle soreness post-race to the socks. I look forward to trying out the SLS3 socks again in a future race and hope to revisit this race next year some some new goals.
